CNTFR

Description

The CNTFR (ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

CNTFR is a receptor that binds ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF), a protein that promotes the survival of neurons. It is closely related to the interleukin-6 receptor and is attached to the cell membrane through a glycophosphatidylinositol linkage.

CNTFR binds to ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) and provides receptor specificity. It acts as a receptor for the neurotrophic cytokine composed of CLCF1 and CRLF1. CNTFR also functions as a receptor for the neuroprotective peptide humanin in a complex with IL6ST/GP130 and IL27RA/WSX1.

CNTFR is also known as -.
