Description
The CLEC11A (C-type lectin domain containing 11A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.
CLEC11A (C-type lectin domain family 11 member A) is a protein encoded by the CLEC11A gene in humans. It belongs to the C-type lectin superfamily and acts as a secreted sulfated glycoprotein. Its primary function is as a growth factor for primitive hematopoietic progenitor cells. While an alternative splice variant exists, its biological role remains unclear.
CLEC11A promotes bone formation by stimulating mesenchymal progenitors to become mature osteoblasts. It plays a crucial role in the repair and maintenance of adult bone.
