CLDN23

Description

The CLDN23 (claudin 23) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

CLDN23 is essential for forming tight junctions between cells, which are crucial for preventing leakage between cells and maintaining the integrity of tissues. It achieves this by eliminating the space between cells through a calcium-independent cell-adhesion mechanism, effectively sealing the junctions.

CLDN23 is also known as CLDNL, hCG1646163.
