CES1P1

Description

The CES1P1 (carboxylesterase 1 pseudogene 1) is a pseudo gene located on chromosome 16.

CES1P1 is a human gene that encodes for a protein belonging to the carboxylesterase family. Carboxylesterases are enzymes that play roles in detoxifying harmful substances and processing chemicals found naturally within the body. The CES1P1 protein may also be involved in the activation of certain drugs.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the carboxylesterase family. Carboxylesterases are serine hydrolases that catalyze the hydrolysis of esters and amides. This enzyme may play a role in the detoxification of xenobiotics and in the metabolism of endogenous compounds. It has also been shown to be involved in the hydrolysis of fatty acid esters and in the activation of certain drugs.

CES1P1 is also known as CES1A2, CES1A3, CES4, CESR, PCE-3.
