CERS4
Description
The CERS4 (ceramide synthase 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.
Ceramide synthase 4 (CerS4) catalyzes the formation of ceramide, a vital lipid, by combining sphinganine with long-chain fatty acids (C18:0-C22:0) derived from acyl-CoA molecules. This process is crucial for maintaining cellular functions and responses to various stimuli.
CERS4 is also known as LASS4, Trh1.
