CEP85

Description

The CEP85 (centrosomal protein 85) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

CEP85 regulates centriole duplication by interacting with STIL, a key protein in early centriole formation. The CEP85-STIL complex modulates PLK4-driven cytoskeletal rearrangements and cell motility. CEP85 also acts as a negative regulator of NEK2, maintaining centrosome integrity during interphase. It inhibits NEK2 kinase activity, preventing centrosome disjunction.

CEP85 is also known as CCDC21.
