CEP44

Description

The CEP44 (centrosomal protein 44) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

CEP44 is a microtubule-binding protein that plays a role in centriole biogenesis and centrosome cohesion. It interacts with several other proteins, including CEP295, POC1B, and CROCC, to perform its functions. CEP44 is required for the conversion of centrioles to centrosomes by ensuring the formation of a proper centriole wall. It also helps maintain centrosome cohesion by acting as a linker component. CEP44 interacts directly with POC1B, recruiting it to centriolar microtubules. It associates with CROCC and regulates its stability and localization to the centrosome.

CEP44 is also known as KIAA1712, PS1TP3.
