CEP104

Description

The CEP104 (centrosomal protein 104) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

CEP104 is a protein encoded by the CEP104 gene in humans. Similar to its counterpart in Chlamydomonas, FAP256, CEP104 localizes to the distal ends of both centrioles when a cilium is absent. During cilium formation, CEP104 is found at the tip of the growing cilium.

CEP104 is essential for the formation of cilia (ciliogenesis) and maintains the structural integrity of the ciliary tip.

CEP104 is also known as CFAP256, GlyBP, JBTS25, KIAA0562, MRT77, ROC22.
