CENPP

Description

The CENPP (centromere protein P) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

CENPP is part of the CENPA-CAD complex, which is crucial for assembling kinetochore proteins, facilitating mitotic progression, and ensuring accurate chromosome segregation during cell division. This complex is recruited to centromeres, the constricted regions of chromosomes, playing a vital role in maintaining the stability of the genome. CENPP may also contribute to the integration of newly synthesized CENPA, a histone variant essential for centromere function, into these regions through its interaction with the CENPA-NAC complex.

CENPP is also known as CENP-P.
