CELF6

Description

The CELF6 (CUGBP Elav-like family member 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

CELF6 is an RNA-binding protein that plays a crucial role in regulating alternative splicing of pre-mRNA. It can mediate the inclusion or exclusion of specific exons in pre-mRNA, which is often influenced by tissue type and developmental stage. In particular, CELF6 activates the inclusion of exon 5 in the TNNT2 gene, a process dependent on a muscle-specific splicing enhancer (MSE). Additionally, CELF6 promotes the exclusion of exon from the INSR gene.

CELF6 is also known as BRUNOL6.
