CEBPG

Description

The CEBPG (CCAAT enhancer binding protein gamma) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

C/EBP gamma (C/EBPγ) is a protein encoded by the CEBPG gene in humans. It's a transcription factor belonging to the C/EBP family, which regulates gene expression by binding to CCAAT/enhancer elements. C/EBPγ contains a bZIP region crucial for DNA binding and dimerization. It can form homodimers with itself and heterodimers with other C/EBP family members, like C/EBPα, C/EBPβ, C/EBPδ, C/EBPζ, and C/EBPε. It also interacts with Fos to bind the PRE-I enhancer element. C/EBPγ forms heterodimers with ATF4 to activate genes involved in autophagy under amino acid starvation conditions. C/EBPγ, along with EGR1, is implicated in chronic pain development after injuries or surgeries.

C/EBP gamma is a transcription factor that binds to the promoter and enhancer regions of target genes. It binds to the PRE-I enhancer element in the IL-4 gene, the promoter and enhancer of the immunoglobulin heavy chain, and the GPE1 cis-acting element in the G-CSF gene promoter. It forms stable heterodimers with CEBPA and CEBPB.

CEBPG is also known as GPE1BP, IG/EBP-1.
