CEACAM8

Description

The CEACAM8 (CEA cell adhesion molecule 8) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

CEACAM8, also known as CD66b, is a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene family. It primarily functions in cell adhesion, cell migration, and pathogen binding. CEACAM8 is specifically expressed on granulocytes and serves as a granulocyte marker.

CEACAM8 is a cell surface glycoprotein involved in cell adhesion, particularly in a calcium-independent manner. It interacts with other carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecules like CEACAM6, forming heterophilic interactions, especially in activated neutrophils.

CEACAM8 is also known as CD66b, CD67, CGM6, NCA-95.
