CEACAM6

Description

The CEACAM6 (CEA cell adhesion molecule 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

CEACAM6, also known as CD66c, is a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene family. It is a cell surface glycoprotein involved in cell adhesion and tumor progression.

CEACAM6 is a cell surface glycoprotein that plays a role in cell adhesion and tumor progression. It mediates homophilic and heterophilic cell adhesion with other carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecules, such as CEACAM5 and CEACAM8. It also plays a role in neutrophil adhesion to cytokine-activated endothelial cells. CEACAM6 acts as an oncogene by promoting tumor progression and positively regulating cell migration, cell adhesion to endothelial cells, and cell invasion. It is involved in the metastatic cascade process by inducing gain resistance to anoikis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma and colorectal carcinoma cells.

CEACAM6 is also known as CD66c, CEAL, NCA, NCA-50/90.
