CEACAM4

Description

The CEACAM4 (CEA cell adhesion molecule 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

CEACAM4 is a gene that encodes carcinoembryonic antigen. It is predicted to be involved in phagocytosis and to act upstream of or within flagellated sperm motility. It is located in the extracellular region and shares similarities with other human genes including CEACAM4. It interacts with 1-naphthyl isothiocyanate, 17alpha-ethynylestradiol, and 2,3,4,7,8-Pentachlorodibenzofuran.

CEACAM4 functions as a receptor that initiates efficient phagocytosis of bound particles.

CEACAM4 is also known as CGM7, CGM7_HUMAN, NCA.
