CDK5R2

Description

The CDK5R2 (cyclin dependent kinase 5 regulatory subunit 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

CDK5R2 is a gene that encodes a protein specifically found in neurons. This protein activates the CDK5 kinase, forming an active complex. Both CDK5R2 and another activator, CDK5R1/p39NCK5A, share limited similarity with cyclins, suggesting they represent a distinct family of cyclin-dependent kinase-activating proteins. CDK5R2 has been shown to interact with Actinin, alpha 1.

CDK5R2 activates the CDK5 kinase, which is involved in neuronal development and function.

CDK5R2 is also known as NCK5AI, P39, p39nck5ai.
