CDK20

Description

The CDK20 (cyclin dependent kinase 20) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

CDK20 plays a crucial role in regulating the Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) signaling pathway during neural tube development. It works with TBC1D32 to control the structure of the primary cilium, a cellular antenna, by coordinating the assembly of its membrane and internal structure (axoneme). This ensures proper activation of the GLI2 transcription factor in response to Shh signaling. CDK20 is also involved in cell growth and activates CDK2, a key cell cycle regulator, by phosphorylating a specific residue (Threonine-160).

CDK20 is also known as CCRK, CDCH, P42, PNQALRE.
