CDK16
Description
The CDK16 (cyclin dependent kinase 16) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.
CDK16 is a human gene that encodes a cyclin-dependent kinase involved in various cellular processes, including vesicle trafficking, neuronal function, and hormone regulation.
CDK16 is a protein kinase involved in vesicle-mediated transport and exocytosis, influencing processes like GH1 release in brain neurons, NSF oligomerization, spermatogenesis, neuronal differentiation, dendrite development, and insulin secretion regulation in response to blood glucose fluctuations. CDK16 can phosphorylate CCNY at Ser-336 in vitro.
CDK16 is also known as PCTAIRE, PCTAIRE1, PCTGAIRE, PCTK1.
