CDK14

Description

The CDK14 (cyclin dependent kinase 14) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

CDK14 is a serine/threonine-protein kinase that plays a role in regulating the eukaryotic cell cycle. Its activity is controlled by an associated cyclin. CDK14 acts as a cell-cycle regulator of the Wnt signaling pathway during the G2/M phase by phosphorylating LRP6 at Ser-1490, which activates the Wnt signaling pathway. CDK14 also regulates cell cycle progression and cell proliferation through its interaction with CCDN3. While CDK14 has been shown to phosphorylate RB1 in vitro, the relevance of this finding in vivo remains to be confirmed. CDK14 may also play a role in meiosis, neuron differentiation, and may indirectly act as a negative regulator of insulin-responsive glucose transport.

CDK14 is also known as PFTAIRE1, PFTK1.
