CDCA8

Description

The CDCA8 (cell division cycle associated 8) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

CDCA8 is a gene that encodes Borealin, a protein crucial for the stability of the bipolar mitotic spindle. It is part of a complex called the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) and interacts with other proteins like INCENP, Survivin, and Aurora B kinase.

CDCA8 is a component of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC), which plays a vital role in regulating mitosis. The CPC is essential for correct chromosome alignment and segregation during cell division. It achieves this by ensuring proper microtubule stabilization and spindle assembly at the centromere. Furthermore, CDCA8 acts as a key effector of the TTK kinase, controlling attachment-error-correction and chromosome alignment.

CDCA8 is also known as BOR, BOREALIN, DasraB, MESRGP.
