CCT4

Description

The CCT4 (chaperonin containing TCP1 subunit 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

CCT4 gene encodes for T-complex protein 1 subunit delta, a protein component of the TRiC complex. The TRiC complex is a molecular chaperone complex that helps proteins fold properly. CCT4 interacts with PPP4C.

CCT4, a subunit of the chaperonin-containing T-complex (TRiC), facilitates protein folding by using ATP hydrolysis. TRiC plays a critical role in telomere maintenance by mediating the folding of WRAP53/TCAB1. It may also be involved in the assembly of BBSome, a complex essential for ciliogenesis and the regulation of vesicle transport to cilia. TRiC is known to facilitate the folding of actin and tubulin, although this function is not definitively confirmed.

CCT4 is also known as CCT-DELTA, Cctd, SRB.
