CCNB1IP1

Description

The CCNB1IP1 (cyclin B1 interacting protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

CCNB1IP1, encoded by the CCNB1IP1 gene in humans, is an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase involved in cell cycle progression. It functions in the transition from the G2 phase to the M phase of the cell cycle. It is considered a housekeeping gene, meaning it is essential for the basic functioning of all cells.

CCNB1IP1 is an E3 ubiquitin ligase that plays a crucial role in regulating crossover events during meiosis. During the zygonema stage, CCNB1IP1 limits the colocalization of RNF212 with MutS-gamma-associated recombination sites, leading to the differentiation of crossover and non-crossover sites. Later, it is guided by MutL-gamma to accumulate at specific crossover sites. CCNB1IP1 is thought to promote the dissociation of RNF212 and MutS-gamma, facilitating the progression of recombination and the completion of crossover events. Additionally, CCNB1IP1 modulates cyclin-B levels, influencing cell cycle progression through the G2 phase. Overexpression of CCNB1IP1 delays entry into mitosis.

CCNB1IP1 is also known as C14orf18, HEI10.
