CCL27

Description

The CCL27 (C-C motif chemokine ligand 27) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

CCL27 is a protein encoded by the CCL27 gene in humans. This gene belongs to a cluster of CC cytokine genes located on chromosome 9. Cytokines are secreted proteins involved in immune regulation and inflammation. CCL27 is chemotactic for skin-associated memory T lymphocytes, contributing to their homing to the skin and participating in T cell-mediated skin inflammation. It is expressed in various tissues, including gonads, thymus, placenta, and skin. CCL27 exerts its chemotactic effects by binding to the chemokine receptor CCR10. Studies on a similar murine protein suggest a critical role of these protein-receptor interactions in T cell-mediated skin inflammation.

CCL27 acts as a chemotactic factor, attracting skin-associated memory T-lymphocytes to cutaneous sites. This process likely contributes to the homing of lymphocytes to the skin. It interacts with the chemokine receptor CCR10.

CCL27 is also known as ALP, CTACK, CTAK, ESKINE, ILC, PESKY, SCYA27.
