CAMK1D

Description

The CAMK1D (calcium/calmodulin dependent protein kinase ID) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

CAMK1D, also known as Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase ID, is a protein encoded by the CAMK1D gene on chromosome 10 (locus 10p13). It belongs to the Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase 1 subfamily of serine/threonine kinases. CAMK1D might play a role in the regulation of granulocyte function through the chemokine signal transduction pathway. Different isoforms of this gene have been described, resulting from alternative splicing.

CAMK1D is a calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase that participates in the calcium-triggered CaMKK-CaMK1 signaling pathway. Upon calcium influx, it activates CREB-dependent gene transcription, regulates calcium-mediated granulocyte function and respiratory burst, and promotes basal dendritic growth of hippocampal neurons. In neutrophil cells, CAMK1D is essential for cytokine-induced proliferative responses and activation of the respiratory burst. It activates the transcription factor CREB1 in hippocampal neuron nuclei. CAMK1D may play a role in apoptosis of erythroleukemia cells. In vitro, CAMK1D phosphorylates transcription factor CREM isoform Beta.

CAMK1D is also known as CKLiK, CaM-K1, CaMKID.
