CACNG7

Description

The CACNG7 (calcium voltage-gated channel auxiliary subunit gamma 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

CACNG7 regulates the activity of L-type calcium channels containing CACNA1C as the pore-forming subunit. It also influences the trafficking and gating properties of AMPA-selective glutamate receptors (AMPARs), promoting their localization to the cell membrane and synapses. CACNG7 modulates AMPAR gating by slowing activation, deactivation, and desensitization rates while facilitating resensitization. This regulation exhibits subunit specificity, acting specifically on GRIA1 and GRIA2 AMPAR subunits.

CACNG7 is also known as -.
