CAB39

Description

The CAB39 (calcium binding protein 39) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

The CAB39 gene encodes a protein, Calcium-binding protein 39, which plays a role in cellular signaling pathways. This protein interacts with STK11 (Serine/Threonine Kinase 11) and STRAD (STE20-Related ADaptor protein), forming a complex. CAB39 enhances the formation of this complex and stimulates the activity of STK11. This suggests that CAB39 acts as a scaffold component, influencing the function and localization of STK11 within the cell.

CAB39 is essential for the formation and activation of the STK11/LKB1 complex. It acts as a stabilizer, ensuring a strong bond between itself (as either CAB39/MO25alpha or CAB39L/MO25beta) and STK11/LKB1 within the complex.

CAB39 is also known as CGI-66, MO25.
