BTNL2

Description

The BTNL2 (butyrophilin like 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

Butyrophilin-like protein 2 is a protein encoded by the BTNL2 gene in humans. It is linked to the immune system and the major histocompatibility complex, and has been connected to numerous diseases. A comprehensive study using the HKA test identified it as the most strongly selected protein in the human genome across 8 out of 12 geographic regions.

BTNL2 is a negative regulator of T-cell proliferation.

BTNL2 is also known as BTL-II, BTN7, HSBLMHC1, SS2.
