BTNL10
Brain Tumor(BTNL10)
Description
Brain tumors are a complex and diverse group of neoplasms that occur within the brain or its surrounding tissues. Brain tumors can be classified based on their location, type of cell, and behavior (benign or malignant). One specific type of brain tumor is BTNL10 (Butyrophilin-Like 10), which belongs to the group of primary central nervous system (CNS) lymphomas.
BTNL10 is a rare type of brain tumor that originates from immune cells called B cells. It typically affects immunocompromised individuals, such as those with weakened immune systems due to HIV/AIDS, organ transplantation, or immunosuppressive medications. BTNL10 brain tumors are typically located in the cerebral hemispheres, which are the larger and more prominent regions of the brain.
Associated Diseases
BTNL10 brain tumors are associated with several underlying conditions that weaken the immune system, including:
- HIV/AIDS
- Organ transplantation (e.g., kidney, liver, heart)
- Immunosuppressive medications (e.g., corticosteroids, chemotherapy)
- Immunodeficiency disorders
Did you Know ?
BTNL10 brain tumors represent a small proportion of primary CNS lymphomas, accounting for approximately 2-5% of cases. However, their incidence is increasing, particularly among immunocompromised individuals.
