BOLA1
Description
The BOLA1 (bolA family member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.
BOLA1 acts as a mitochondrial iron-sulfur (Fe-S) cluster assembly factor, facilitating the insertion of (Fe-S) clusters into a specific set of mitochondrial proteins. This process is likely carried out in conjunction with the monothiol glutaredoxin GLRX5. Additionally, BOLA1 may contribute to cellular protection against oxidative stress.
BOLA1 is also known as CGI-143.
