BMP8A

Description

The BMP8A (bone morphogenetic protein 8a) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

Bone morphogenetic protein 8A (BMP8A) is a protein encoded by the BMP8A gene in humans. It is a member of the TGFβ superfamily of proteins and, like other bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs), plays a role in the development of bone and cartilage. BMP8A may be involved in epithelial osteogenesis and bone homeostasis. It is a disulfide-linked homodimer.

BMP8A is also known as OP-2, Op2.
