BCL2L14

Description

The BCL2L14 (BCL2 like 14) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

Apoptosis facilitator Bcl-2-like protein 14 is a protein encoded by the BCL2L14 gene in humans. It belongs to the BCL2 protein family, which includes proteins that regulate apoptosis, a process of programmed cell death. BCL2 family members form dimers and act as either anti-apoptotic (preventing cell death) or pro-apoptotic (promoting cell death) regulators. Overexpression of BCL2L14 has been linked to inducing apoptosis in cells. This gene has four alternatively spliced transcript variants, resulting in three different protein isoforms.

BCL2L14 is also known as BCLG.
