BCAS2

Description

The BCAS2 (BCAS2 pre-mRNA processing factor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

BCAS2 is a gene that encodes the SPF27 protein, a crucial factor in pre-mRNA splicing. It is involved in the activation of the spliceosome, a complex responsible for removing introns from pre-mRNA molecules. This gene is located on the human chromosome and its details can be accessed through the UCSC Genome Browser.

BCAS2 is essential for pre-mRNA splicing as a component of the activated spliceosome. It is part of the PRP19-CDC5L complex, a crucial component of the spliceosome that activates pre-mRNA splicing. BCAS2 may act as a scaffolding protein within the spliceosome, interacting with all other core complex components. The PRP19-CDC5L complex is also implicated in the DNA damage response (DDR).

BCAS2 is also known as DAM1, SPF27, Snt309.
