Description
The BAZ2B (bromodomain adjacent to zinc finger domain 2B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.
BAZ2B is a regulatory subunit of the ATP-dependent BRF-1 and BRF-5 ISWI chromatin remodeling complexes. These complexes play a crucial role in organizing nucleosomes on chromatin, facilitating access to DNA for processes like replication, transcription, and repair. BAZ2B, as a chromatin reader, may also contribute to transcriptional regulation through its interaction with ISWI. Additionally, BAZ2B is implicated in age-related behavioral deterioration and repressing the expression of mitochondrial function-related genes, potentially through interaction with EHMT1.
