B4GALNT3

Description

The B4GALNT3 (beta-1,4-N-acetyl-galactosaminyltransferase 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

B4GALNT3 transfers N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) from UDP-GalNAc to N-acetylglucosamine-beta-benzyl with a beta-1,4-linkage. This forms N,N'-diacetyllactosediamine (GalNAc-beta-1,4-GlcNAc) structures in N-linked glycans and possibly O-linked glycans. It is responsible for the formation of N,N'-diacetyllactosediamine on the gastric mucosa.

B4GALNT3 is also known as -.
