B3GNTL1

Description

The B3GNTL1 (UDP-GlcNAc:betaGal beta-1,3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase like 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

B3GNTL1 is a glycosyltransferase that plays a critical role in modifying tRNA(Tyr) by adding a galactose molecule to the queuosine at position 34 (Q34). This modification, known as galactosyl-queuosine(34), is essential for regulating protein translation. Specifically, it slows down the elongation process at UAC codons and prevents the mistranslation of stop codons.

B3GNTL1 is also known as 3-Gn-T8, B3GNT8, BGnT-8, QTGAL, beta-1, beta3Gn-T8, beta3GnTL1.
