ATXN7L3

Description

The ATXN7L3 (ataxin 7 like 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

ATXN7L3 is a component of the SAGA complex, a multiprotein complex involved in transcription regulation. It specifically deubiquitinates histones H2A and H2B, contributing to chromatin remodeling and histone acetylation. The SAGA complex is recruited to gene promoters by activators like MYC, where it is essential for transcription. ATXN7L3 also plays a role in nuclear receptor-mediated transactivation and the recruitment of USP22 and ENY2 into the SAGA complex. It regulates H2Bub1 levels and influences the subcellular localization of ENY2, USP22, and ATXN7L3B.

ATXN7L3 is also known as SGF11.
