ATP6V1E2

Description

The ATP6V1E2 (ATPase H+ transporting V1 subunit E2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

ATP6V1E2 is a gene that encodes for the V-type proton ATPase subunit E 2 enzyme in humans. This enzyme is involved in the regulation of cellular pH by transporting protons across membranes.

ATP6V1E2 is a subunit of the V1 complex of the vacuolar proton pump (V-ATPase). The V1 complex hydrolyzes ATP, providing energy for the V0 complex to translocate protons across cellular membranes. V-ATPase is responsible for acidifying intracellular compartments, maintaining their pH, and in some cell types, acidifying the extracellular environment.

ATP6V1E2 is also known as ATP6E1, ATP6EL2, ATP6V1EL2, VMA4.
