ATP11B

Description

The ATP11B (ATPase phospholipid transporting 11B (putative)) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

ATP11B is a human gene that encodes for the Probable phospholipid-transporting ATPase IF enzyme. This enzyme belongs to the P-type ATPase family, which utilizes phosphorylation for transporting ions across membranes. ATP11B is part of a subfamily that transports amphipaths, such as phosphatidylserine.

ATP11B is the catalytic component of a P4-ATPase flippase complex that uses ATP hydrolysis to transport aminophospholipids, including phosphatidylserines (PS) and phosphatidylethanolamines (PE), from the outer to the inner leaflet of intracellular membranes. This transport contributes to the maintenance of membrane lipid asymmetry in the endosome compartment.

ATP11B is also known as ATPIF, ATPIR.
