ATG10
Description
The ATG10 (autophagy related 10) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.
ATG10, or Autophagy-related protein 10, is a protein encoded by the human ATG10 gene. It plays a role in autophagy.
ATG10 is an E2-like enzyme crucial for autophagy. It catalyzes the attachment of ATG12 to ATG5, a process essential for autophagy. ATG10 likely acts as a recognition molecule for ATG5. It is not involved in the conjugation of ATG12 to ATG3. Additionally, ATG10 plays a role in cell lysis mediated by adenoviruses.
ATG10 is also known as APG10, APG10L, pp12616.
