ATE1

Description

The ATE1 (arginyltransferase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

ATE1 is involved in the post-translational modification of proteins by adding an arginine molecule to their N-terminal aspartate or glutamate residues. This process, known as arginylation, targets proteins for degradation via the ubiquitin pathway. ATE1 does not arginylate cysteine residues.

ATE1 is also known as -.
