ATAD2
Description
The ATAD2 (ATPase family AAA domain containing 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.
ATAD2, potentially acting as a transcriptional coactivator for the estrogen receptor ESR1, plays a role in regulating the expression of specific estradiol-responsive genes. These genes include CCND1, MYC, and E2F1, which are involved in cell cycle progression. ATAD2 might also be involved in the recruitment of CREBBP to ESR1 target gene promoters. Additionally, ATAD2 may be essential for histone hyperacetylation. Studies suggest that ATAD2 is implicated in estrogen-mediated cell proliferation and cell cycle progression in breast cancer cells.
