ASXL3

Description

The ASXL3 (ASXL transcriptional regulator 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 18.

ASXL3 is a protein in humans encoded by the ASXL3 gene. It is a putative Polycomb group protein.

ASXL3 is a putative Polycomb group (PcG) protein. PcG proteins are involved in maintaining the silenced state of homeotic genes during development. They do not initiate repression but play a crucial role in sustaining it during later developmental stages. PcG proteins are thought to achieve this by modifying histones through methylation, which permanently alters the chromatin's expression potential.

ASXL3 is also known as BRPS, KIAA1713.
