ASPSCR1

Description

The ASPSCR1 (ASPSCR1 tether for SLC2A4, UBX domain containing) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

The ASPSCR1 gene encodes for the TUG protein. This gene is considered a candidate for alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS). ASPSRC1 can rearrange with the TFE3 gene, creating a new gene that acts as a stronger transcriptional activator than TFE3 on its own. This fusion gene creates a chimeric transcription factor that produces molecules involved in ASPS and renal cell carcinomas. Several alternative forms of this gene have been found, but their full length has not been determined.

ASPSCR1 is also known as ASPCR1, ASPL, ASPS, RCC17, TUG, UBXD9, UBXN9.
