ASB12

Description

The ASB12 (ankyrin repeat and SOCS box containing 12) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

ASB12 is likely a substrate-recognition component of a SCF-like ECS (Elongin-Cullin-SOCS-box protein) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex, which is responsible for tagging target proteins with ubiquitin, leading to their degradation by the proteasome. This function has been experimentally validated (ECO:0000250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:16325183).
