ARPP19
Description
The ARPP19 (cAMP regulated phosphoprotein 19) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.
ARPP19 acts as a protein phosphatase inhibitor, specifically targeting protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) during mitosis. This inhibition is achieved through phosphorylation at Ser-62 during mitosis, which triggers a specific interaction with PPP2R2D (PR55-delta). This interaction inhibits PPP2R2D's activity, ultimately leading to PP2A inactivation. This inactivation is crucial for maintaining high cyclin-B1-CDK1 activity during the M phase of the cell cycle. Additionally, ARPP19 may indirectly increase the expression of GAP-43.
ARPP19 is also known as ARPP-16, ARPP-19, ARPP16, ENSAL.
