ARMCX5

Description

The ARMCX5 (armadillo repeat containing X-linked 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

ARMCX5 is a protein encoded by the X-linked ARMCX5 gene. It is characterized by the presence of armadillo repeat motifs and is found only in placental mammals. ARMCX5 contains three ARM-like repeats, DUF364, and an ARM-type fold. This protein interacts with a variety of other proteins, playing a role in diverse cellular processes such as cancer development, aging and survival regulation, circadian rhythm control, and sorting of G-protein coupled receptors within lysosomes. The DUF364 domain's PLP-dependent transferase-like fold suggests a potential involvement in anaerobic vitamin B12 biosynthesis. ARMCX5 is highly expressed in numerous tissues, demonstrating its widespread importance.

ARMCX5 protein interacts with various proteins and participates in a range of cellular processes, including cancer development, regulation of aging and cell survival, circadian rhythm control, and sorting of G-protein coupled receptors within lysosomes. Due to the presence of a PLP-dependent transferase-like fold in DUF364, the gene's context hints at a potential role in anaerobic vitamin B12 biosynthesis.

ARMCX5 is also known as GASP5.
