ARL16

Description

The ARL16 (ADP ribosylation factor like GTPase 16) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

ARL16, also known as ARF-like protein 16, is a protein encoded by the ARL16 gene in humans. This gene is located on chromosome 19 and spans approximately 11.5 kilobases. ARL16 belongs to the ADP-ribosylation factor (ARF) family of small GTPases, which are involved in intracellular membrane trafficking. The protein product of this gene is approximately 20 kDa in size and is composed of 181 amino acids.

ARL16 might regulate the RNA recognition activity of RIGI (retinoic acid-inducible gene I), a key component of innate immunity, in a GTP-dependent manner. This suggests a possible role of ARL16 in modulating the immune response.
