ARHGEF28

Description

The ARHGEF28 (Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor 28) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

ARHGEF28, a Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor, plays a key role in regulating various cellular processes. It specifically activates RHOA, a small GTPase, downstream of integrins and growth factor receptors, affecting signaling pathways. This activity influences axonal branching, synapse formation, and dendritic morphogenesis in neurons. Beyond neuronal development, ARHGEF28 contributes to focal adhesion formation, cell motility, and B-lymphocyte activation. Furthermore, it might regulate NEFL expression and aggregation, potentially impacting apoptosis.

ARHGEF28 is also known as RGNEF, RIP2, p190RHOGEF.
