ARHGEF25

Description

The ARHGEF25 (Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor 25) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

ARHGEF25 plays a role in the reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton within various tissues. Its activation triggers the formation of actin stress fibers. As a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for the Rho family of small GTPases, it facilitates the exchange of GDP for GTP, activating these signaling proteins. ARHGEF25 specifically links G alpha q/11-coupled receptors to the activation of RHOA. This protein may play a crucial regulatory role in processes like axon and dendrite formation. In neurons, ARHGEF25 primarily functions as an exchange factor for RAC1. Additionally, it is involved in skeletal myogenesis.

ARHGEF25 is also known as GEFT, p63RhoGEF.
