ARHGEF16

Description

The ARHGEF16 (Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor 16) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

ARHGEF16 acts as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for the RHOG GTPase, facilitating the exchange of GDP for GTP on RHOG. This process is crucial for RHOG activation, potentially playing a role in chemotactic cell migration. ARHGEF16 also mediates the activation of RAC1 by the EPHA2 receptor tyrosine kinase, further contributing to cell migration processes. Additionally, ARHGEF16 can activate CDC42, and its activity can be stimulated by the viral protein HPV16 E6, suggesting potential involvement in viral infection.

ARHGEF16 is also known as GEF16, NBR.
