AQP4-AS1

Description

The AQP4-AS1 (AQP4 antisense RNA 1) is a ncRNA gene located on chromosome 18.

AQP4-AS1 is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on the opposite strand of the AQP4 gene. It is thought to play a role in regulating the expression of AQP4, a protein involved in water transport within the brain. AQP4-AS1‘s exact function is still under investigation, but its expression is known to be altered in conditions like Alzheimer‘s disease, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis, hinting at its potential involvement in their development.

AQP4-AS1 is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that is located in the opposite strand of the AQP4 gene. Its function is not well understood, but it has been suggested to play a role in regulating the expression of AQP4, a protein that is involved in water transport in the brain. Studies have shown that AQP4-AS1 expression is altered in various brain diseases, including Alzheimer‘s disease, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis, suggesting that it may be involved in the pathogenesis of these conditions.

AQP4-AS1 is also known as C18orf16, CHST9-AS1.
